Idaho women host Boise State in rivalry game

Idaho will look to break a two-game skid with a home date against in-state rival Boise State on Saturday. The Broncos and Vandals split last year's series, with the road team winning each game. Both teams will by vying for their first conference win of the year, as both are 0-2 in the Western Athletic Conference. Boise State enters the game at 11-5 overall, while Idaho is 2-13.

A Look At The Broncos:
The Broncos come into the weekend 0-2 in the WAC. Boise State opened conference play with a loss at Nevada, then fell to New Mexico State on Wednesday in overtime by an 87-83 score. BSU is coached by Gordy Presnell, who is in his fifth season in charge of the program.

The Broncos feature the WAC's third-best scoring offense at 71.4 points per game, and they allow 66.9 points defensively. BSU shoots .398 from the field and .295 from 3-point range as a team, while holding opponents to .389 overall and .280 from long range. BSU is a strong rebounding team at 42.9 per game and also blocks 4.19 shots per game. The Broncos also lead the league in steals per game at 11.94.

Seniors Jessica Van Hoogen (formerly Thompson) and Tasha Harris pace Boise State with 16.9 and 16.3 points per game, respectively. Junior center Janie Bos leads the WAC in field goal percentage (.571), scores 7.3 points per game and grabs 6.2 rebounds.

Last time these two teams played in Moscow, Boise State skipped town with a 60-56 win in the first game of the WAC season on Jan. 3. Idaho returned the favor on March 7 with a 58-56 win in Boise in the final game of the WAC season. BSU holds an all-time series lead of 33-27 and has won four of the last five meetings. Idaho's last win over Boise State at the Cowan Spectrum was on March 3, 2006.
