Big Sky Championship Begins Friday

Vandals to face local rival EWU

CHENEY, Wash. – The regular season is over and the Idaho Vandals are ready to get the postseason underway, taking on Eastern Washington in the Big Sky Tournament semifinals at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

PREVIEW – The Vandals earned the No. 1 seed after going 7-1-2 in the regular season, taking home their second straight regular season crown.  Guy Wicks Field proved to be not capable of hosting the Tournament, forcing the move to Cheney.
 
Eastern Washington stumbled toward the end of the year, going 1-3-1 in the second half of the Big Sky season, and finished fifth overall.  EWU defeated Montana in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, 1-0.
 
MATCHUP – Idaho is 11-10-1 all-time against EWU, but has struggled since joining the Big Sky three seasons ago.  The two teams have met five times in the last three years, with Idaho going 1-3-1.
 
TOURNAMENT – Idaho advanced to the Big Sky Championship Game last season after defeating Montana in the semifinals, 3-2.  Eastern Washington won its first ever Big Sky Tournament game on Wednesday.
