MOSCOW, Idaho – 6.2 seconds to play,
Pat Ingram tears down the defensive rebound and pushes to
Myles Franklin as he cuts up court. 2.6 seconds to play, Franklin crosses half court and sends a great pass to
Jordan Scott, cutting toward the basket for the layup.  0.0 seconds to play, it's good. Vandals win.
Â
"Heck of a win," said head coach
Don Verlin. "Heck of a play there by
Myles Franklin. First of all,
Pat Ingram with the rebound there on that free throw and getting it to Myles so he can hit the open guy, and Jordan laying it in. What a great way to finish a great day for the University of Idaho, with football winning its eighth game and us getting a win over UC Davis."
Â
The win moves Idaho to 4-3 on the season, 3-1 at home. UC Davis falls to 5-4 with the loss.
Â
Idaho took the lead with just over six minutes to play on a layup by Ingram, after trailing for much of the second half. The game would remain close for the remainder, but Idaho had a comfortable, multi-possession lead in the final minute before a late surge by UC Davis. The Aggies would cut the Idaho lead to just one with 16 seconds to play after a pair of free throws.
Â
Idaho couldn't get the ball in after the free throws, committing a turnover nearly instantly. UC Davis attacked the basket for what could have been the final possession, earning the foul and sending an 85 percent free throw shooter to the line with six seconds to play. He would tie the game with the first, but missed the second, leading to the incredible Idaho finish.
Â
Idaho shot the ball well overall, going 27-of-54 (50%) from the field and 6-of-18 (33.3%) from deep. The Vandals struggled mightily at the line, however, going 8-of-20 from the charity stripe.
Â
The Idaho defense continues to be the calling card for the Vandals. Idaho held UC Davis to 39.3 percent shooting from the field and outrebounded the Aggies, 34-33.
Â
Brayon Blake led the way for Idaho with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Blake was tremendous in the second half, going 6-of-7 from the floor.Â
Ty Egbert gave the Vandals 14 great minutes off the bench, finishing 5-of-6 from the floor for 14 points. The Vandals did a fantastic job sharing the ball, with all five starters finishing with at least three assists.
