GRADN FORKS, N.D.—Idaho men's tennis rebounded from a tough loss on Friday with an impressive 7-0 win over North Dakota on Sunday. Idaho swept the board against the Fighting Hawks, not dropping a court across doubles and singles play.
The Vandals got the early doubles-point to begin the match. The pairs of Artem Vasheshnikov and Jackson Varney and Lucas Coutinho and Mark Kovacs each scored 6-2 wins on the No. 1 and 3 courts, respectively. Felipe Fonseca and Odon Barta recorded a 6-1 win on the No. 2 court.
Idaho carried its strong play into singles. The Vandals took five of the six matches in straight sets. The top two courts for Idaho led the dominate showing. Barta made quick work of UND's David Bergstrom on the No. 1 court, 6-1, 6-3. Fonseca followed suit with a 6-2, 6-1 win in No. 2 play.
Next up for Idaho is another Big Sky matchup. The Vandals will travel to Cheney, Wash., March 5, to take on Northern Arizona.
