MOSCOW, Idaho – It's a track and field sweep, with Ben Ayesu-Attah and Kinsey Gomez taking home Vandal Athlete of the Week honors after tremendous performances in Southern California over the weekend.
Ayesu-Attah, a senior from Coquitlam, British Columbia, posted the fastest 400-meter time in the Big Sky this season at 46.6 seconds at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Ayesu-Attah is currently ranked 13th in the NCAA West after posting the fastest non-championship time of his career. Ayesu-Attah took second overall in the race, breaking the meet record in the process.
Gomez, a senior from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, ran the fourth fastest 1500-meter time in program history at 4:22.10 over the weekend, a four-second personal-best. She now holds the fastest time in the Big Sky in both the 1500-meters and the 10,000-meters and moved into 40th in the NCAA West in the 1500-meters.
