SPOKANE, Wash. – The Idaho track and field team had a very successful meet at the Spokane Memorial Open, taking five individual wins.
Kolcie Bates took the win in the discus throw at 42.01 meters. Bates also placed third in the hammer throw at 49.46 meters and ninth in the shot put at 11.60 meters.
Kaleala Bass edged out a win in the 400-meter dash, defeating Eastern Washington's Janessa Day by one one-hundredth of a second with a season-best time of 58.30 seconds.
Kaizer Gillispie won the 400-meter dash with a season-best and Big Sky Championship qualifying mark of 48.98 seconds.
Juan Medina threw a career-best 48.12 meters in the discus, taking first overall by nearly 1.5 meters.
Zion Stuffle dominated the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.99 seconds. Stuffle currently holds the best time in the Big Sky this season at 52.75 seconds. Mack Baxter took second in the event with a season-best time of 54.63 seconds.
Victoria Goetz took second in the 100-meter dash at 12.64 seconds, while Meghan Palesh earned fourth in the 200-meters at 26.28 seconds. Wednesday Walton posted a career-best time of 1:03.00 in the 400-meter hurdles. Tayler Feinauer placed third overall in the javelin with a throw of 39.28 meters, her best of the season.
Gillispie and Ian Middleton took third and fourth, respectively, in the 200-meter dash. Both finished with season-best times, Gillispie at 22.17 seconds and Middleton at 22.39 seconds. Dusan Jevtic cleared 1.95 meters in the high jump, taking second overall. Teammate Dustin Harrah finished in fourth at 1.90 meters.
