Idaho men’s golf inked two decorated newcomers to National Letters of Intent

MOSCOW, Idaho- Idaho men's golf inked two decorated newcomers to National Letters of Intent, head coach David Nuhn announced Wednesday. Sean Langham and Joel Veenstra will join the Vandals for the 2018-19 season.

"I anticipate Sean and Joel to immediately improve our lineup," Nuhn said. "They have both shown the ability to compete against elite talent and that will certainly translate into success in the Big Sky Conference. Welcome to Vandal Golf Sean and Joel!"

Sean Langham
Sydney, Australia

Langham will join the Vandals as a junior after spending two years at North Idaho College. Originally from Sydney, Australia, Langham was an all-conference performer as a freshman at NIC.

"I'm extremely excited that Sean has decided to continue his athletic and academic pursuits here at the University of Idaho," said Nuhn. "Being a highly competitive junior college player for two seasons has created many opportunities for him to consider and I'm thrilled that he believes in Idaho as a place to further his development. I look forward to his immediate positive impact on our team with his work ethic, positive attitude and high level of skill."

Langham helped the Cardinals to their first NWAC team title, after also winning the regular-season crown. The Cardinals were the only team under par and Langham finished at even-par for the tournament to place sixth in the individual standings. Earlier in his freshman season, Langham won the Whitworth Invitational and finished tied for first at the Walla Walla Invitational.

Langham attended secondary school at Barker College, where he competed in cricket, Australian rules football, rugby and soccer, in addition to golf. He earned medalist honors at the  New South Wales Combined Independent Schools Championship.

Joel Veenstra
Smithers, British Columbia

Veenstra, the brother of current Idaho freshman Adam Veenstra, will join the team next season as a freshman.

"Vandal golf continues its tradition of getting some of the best players north of the border to come play in Moscow," Nuhn said. "Joel is no exception. Incredibly long off the tee and a very solid putter on the greens, Joel has a tremendous upside and is a player I see competing for Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors. His experience at both the junior Canadian national and international junior level will prepare him for this next step."

Veenstra is the team captain at Bulkley Valley Christian School in Smithers, British Columbia. Last season, he posted a scoring average of 70.0. Off the course, he is also a member of his school's hockey team.
