@VandalsWBB Set to Open Big Sky Play

Idaho will host North Dakota in Big Sky opener

MOSCOW, Idaho--The Vandals put a bow on the non-conference season with their win over Eastern Oregon in Boise. The team now looks forward to the Big Sky season set to open on Thursday.

The Game: Idaho opens the Big Sky season at home for the first time since 2015. The Vandals are 3-0 all-time at home against the Fighting Hawks of North Dakota. 

About The Vandals: Idaho wrapped the non-conference season with a 4-7 record. The Vandals opened the season win a road-win at four-time Mountain West champion Colorado State. Idaho also has wins over CSUN, Cal State Fullerton and Eastern Oregon.  The trio of Mikayla Ferenz, Geri McCorkell and Taylor Pierce have led the team this season. The group has scored 73.2 percent of Idaho's points this season (554 combined).  

About the Fighting Hawks: North Dakota tied for the top spot in the conference last year, finishing 15-3 in conference play. UND enters conference play with a 7-4 record. The Fighting Hawks were defeated by South Dakota,  76-71, to close out non-conference play last week. This season marks UND's last in the Big Sky. They will join the Summit League next season. 

Last Time Out: Taylor Pierce scored a career-high 29 points last week, helping Idaho to an 84-70 win over Eastern Oregon last Thursday. The Vandals 84 points marked a season-best. Mikayla Ferenz scored 21 points, moving into fourth in school history with 209 career 3-pointers. 

Game Connections: Idaho assistant coach Jeri Jacobson spent the 2014-15 season as the Director of Basketball Operations at UND.
