LAST TIME OUT: Idaho faced an undermanned Nevada squad on Sunday, defeating the Wolf Pack 6-0. The Vandals got production from across the roster, with six different athletes scoring. The six goals by the Vandals are the most ever against a Division I opponent.
MATCHUPS: Idaho is 2-0-2 all-time against NAU, with the squads dueling to a 2-2 draw last season. The Lumberjacks took the 2-1 lead in the second half on a fluke goal that managed to elude Idaho's
Torell Stewart, but the Vandals put the pressure on for the remainder of the contest to score the equalizer with just five seconds remaining in regulation. The Vandals took 46 shots on the day, including 25 in the second half while NAU was trapped in its own end.
COMMON OPPONENTS: NAU defeated Nevada earlier this season as well, defeating the Wolf Pack 1-0 at home. Sacramento State began the season with a 2-1 win at Saint Mary's before falling to Nevada, 3-2, in double overtime.
BIG SKY IS HERE: Idaho, the back-to-back Big Sky Regular Season Champions, were picked to finish fourth by the coaches in the annual poll. NAU was projected to finish second, while Sacramento State was picked sixth. Idaho does have a favorable conference schedule this season, with home games against four of the other five teams projected to make the Big Sky Tournament.
GOALS, GOALS, GOALS: Idaho responded on Friday night after going down 4-1 to Memphis to score four unanswered goals and win, 5-4. The win was Idaho's first ever win while allowing at least three goals. The Vandals followed that up with a 6-0 win over Nevada on Sunday, marking 10 straight goals for Idaho without conceding. By comparison, the Vandals scored just nine total goals during the 2008 season.
The streak of 10 unanswered goals is the longest for the team since at least 2001, when the Vandals rattled off four consecutive shutout wins to close out non-conference play. Idaho's longest stretch of unanswered goals came in 2000, when the Vandals scored 16 straight unanswered.
