MOSCOW, Idaho – Another day, another overtime game for the Vandals as Idaho (4-5-2, 0-1-1) earned the 0-0 draw with Sacramento State (5-4-2, 0-0-2) on Sunday in the Kibbie Dome.
Makayla Presgrave was outstanding for the Vandals, making five saves in goal for her fourth shutout of the season. She was tested often, especially late in the second half as the Hornets pressed.
The offense improved from the Friday game, firing 14 shots on the day. The front pairing of
Myah Merino and
Bridget Daley caused a lot of problems for the Hornet's back line, but just couldn't find the back of the net. The second unit of
Brooke Sosa and
Kaysie Bruce provided a great spark for the Vandals as well.
Sosa came within inches of ending things in the second overtime, making an impressive play to get a shot off, but the ball struck the post before getting cleaned up by the Sacramento State goalkeeper.
It was Idaho's third overtime game of the season, with the Vandals now 0-1-2. Check the video attached at the top of the page for reactions from head coach
Derek Pittman.
