EUGENE, Ore. – Idaho cross country mixed it up with some of the best cross country teams in the nation on Friday, taking part in the Dellinger Invitational, hosted by the University of Oregon.

"Again, I was proud of the Vandals, I thought the team ran well," said director of track and field/cross country Tim Cawley.  "I think the both took a good step forward in trying to figure out where they're at within the region.  Getting a little bit more awareness of where they're at competitively was exciting.  I think both teams grew another step further with their confidence as well.  I'm excited to see how this season rounds out."

Five ranked teams competed on both the men's and women's sides, marking the strongest competition Idaho has faced this season.  The Vandals weren't fazed, however, competing well on the day.  Both squads finished eighth overall in their respective races.

Dwain Stucker led the way for the men.  Stucker finished 46th on the 8k course with a time of 24:27.2.  Fabian Cardenas and Grayson Ollar weren't far behind, finishing in 58th and 65th, respectively.  They both ran well, with Cardenas finishing in 24:35.4 and Ollar at 24:43.0.

Tim Delcourt took 73rd with a time of 24:51.0, while Skylar Ovnicek rounded out the scorers in 84th at 25:03.9.

Andrea Condie led the way for the women for the third straight race, finishing the 6k course in 19:52.3.  The Story sisters, Krista Story and Kara Story, finished 49th and 50th, respectively.  Krista Story finished in 20:22.1, while Kara Story was close behind at 20:25.6.

Rounding out the scorers were Malaina Thacker and Maizy Brewer.  Thacker finished 66th with a time of 20:48.8, while Brewer took 73rd at 20:59.7.

The Vandals will take the week off ahead of their final regular season meet, the Inland Empire Championships in Lewiston on October 14.  Check back with GoVandals.com as the meet approaches for more information.
