RESULTS
PULLMAN, Wash. – Idaho track and field continued to improve on Saturday at the WSU Open, with a handful of athletes posting new career bests just two weeks into the young indoor season.
"It was a good day. We had quite a few wins, which is always fun," said director of track and field/cross country
Tim Cawley. "That's kind of what I like about this meet, you get a chance to come out and compete and focus more on competition. We had some great performances, so it was really exciting. The kids competed well, came out and worked hard."
Kasin Pendergrass-Anderson had a great day across the border. He took home the individual title in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 7.46 meters (24-5.75) and finished 3
rd in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.99 seconds. His qualifying time of 6.93 seconds is a new personal-best.
Three other Vandals won events on Saturday.
Kaizer Gillispie won the 200-meters with a time of 22.53 seconds, while
Mack Baxter won the 300-meters at 36.66 seconds.
Nik Chappee, competing in his first 400-meter event as a Vandal, took first with a time of 50.62 seconds.
Quinn Mitchell had a good overall performance on the day, finishing third in the weight throw and fifth in the shot put. He threw 17.57 meters (57-7.75) in the weight throw, and had a season-best toss of 14.36 meters (41-1.50) in the shot put.
Ben Doucette placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.12 seconds.
Britt Ipsen went 6.90 meters (22-7.75) in his first collegiate long jump competition to take third, while
Jonny Magee jumped 14.29 meters (46-10.75) in the triple jump to earn fourth.
Kaylee Hove was the star on the women's side, finishing second in the 200-meters and fourth in the 400-meters. She finished just short of her PR in the 200 with a time of 26.07 seconds, and set a new personal-best in the 400 at 1:01.29.
Hannah Ringel beat last week's mark by a full meter in the shot put, earning second with a toss of 12.73 meters (41-9.25). J
