MOSCOW, Idaho— Idaho women's volleyball team (13-8, 7-2) swept Eastern Washington University (25-22; 25-19; 25-19) in the Vandals' ninth Big Sky Conference match of the season at Memorial Gym Tuesday night.
First Set Summary
Idaho dominated the opening set as senior
Sarah Sharp finished a kill and freshman
Becca Owen added an ace for an 8-2 lead. Both teams would trade points until a 5-0 run put the Vandals up 16-7. A late rally by the Eagles put them within reach, 24-22, but Idaho overcame to win the set.
Second Set Summary
Eastern Washington used a 4-0 run to take an early 9-5 lead in the second set. Idaho responded with a 6-0 run to regain a three-point edge, 14-11, which proved to be the cushion they needed to win the set. Following a valiant run by Eastern Washington, the Vandals kept control and took set two, 25-19.
Third Set Summary
Seeing the end in sight, Idaho used a couple of strings of kills and service aces with a couple of Eastern Washington errors to pull ahead 20-10. Idaho would finish the set on an Eagles error, 25-19.
Vandal Notables
DeVonne Ryter led the Vandals with 12 kills, two aces and three blocks on the night. She hit at a .440 clip, which was also the highest individual hitting percentage of the match. Sharp and
Reece Carman followed closely behind with 10 and nine kills respectively, while Carman also hit at a .421 clip.
Alycia Wodke tied with Ryter collecting two aces and also tied with
Delaney Hopen with 12 digs.
Haylee Mathis got on the board with 34 assists on the night.
