BIG SKY TOURNAMENT: The 2018 Big Sky Tournament will take place in Ogden, Utah, beginning on October 31. The Vandals and the Lumberjacks have already clinched spots in the tournament, but seeding has yet to be determined. A win for Idaho makes the Vandals the top seed, while a draw or a loss would likely force Idaho to have to play on the opening day in Ogden. NAU can still secure a first round bye, with a win and a draw or loss by Northern Colorado.
LAST TIME OUT: The Vandals took down the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah, 2-0, in Cedar City.
Kelly Dopke put Idaho on the board first with a header off a corner kick in the 36
th minute.
Myah Merino wasted no time doubling Idaho's lead, scoring just 40 seconds later on a beautiful long-range shot.
The shutout was the fourth straight for
Makayla Presgrave and the back line. It is the first time since 2001 that Idaho has recorded four consecutive shutouts.
MATCHUP: Idaho is 2-1-2 all-time against NAU, including a 2-1-1 mark since joining the Big Sky Conference. Idaho is 1-0-1 in Flagstaff all-time.
BEST IN THE NATION: Idaho finished its home schedule at 6-0-1, marking the third time in program history that the Vandals did not suffer a loss at home. Idaho won the Big Sky regular season championship in each previous occurrence, in 2015 and 2016.
In fact, Idaho only conceded on goal at home this season, on a penalty kick against Grambling State. The Vandals are the only team in the nation to not concede a goal from the run of play at home this year.
RECORD BOOKS: Idaho's six home wins are the fifth most in a single season in team history. The Vandal's home winning percentage of 0.929 is the best ever at Idaho.
ALL THEY DO IS WIN: Idaho's current class of seniors has won 41 games over the past four seasons, the most ever over a four-year stretch at Idaho. The senior class of 2012 won 37 games, and featured Idaho soccer's lone Vandal Athletics Hall of Famer in Chelsea Small. Last year's class of one, Baggerly, won 36 games over four years.
