MOSCOW, Idaho— Taking to the court for the first time in the 2018-19 season, the Vandals defeated the Saints of St. Martin's University in an exhibition contest Sunday afternoon. Things started off slowly for the Vandals, but a second-half surge lifted Idaho past the Saints by a final score of 108-84.
Idaho was paced by senior
Taylor Pierce's 32 points, while senior
Mikayla Ferenz added 27 points, three assists, and four rebounds in the triple-digit win.
Janie King stepped up also, collecting 13 points to round out the double-digit scorers for the afternoon.
First-game jitters got the best of the Vandals as it was a close game throughout the first half, especially the first quarter, in which the Saints just barely won the quarter 18-16. Idaho led 40-36 at halftime and extended its lead in the third quarter after outscoring St. Martin's 40-21. In the final quarter, the Vandals lead the Saints, 80-57, and continued to grow its lead to the final score of 108-84.
