THE INSIDE TRACK

MOSCOW, Idaho
– The University of Idaho Track & Field program is thrilled to announce the signing of Spencer Barrera of Spokane, Wash.

Barrera, from Mt. Spokane High School, was the Washington State runner-up last spring in the 400m after setting a personal best of 48.58 seconds during the season.

Barrera also excelled in the horizontal jumps at the Washington State meet as a junior, placing third in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump. He has personal bests of 22' 1.25" in the long jump and 45' 5.75" in the triple jump.

Barrera was the District 8 champion in the long jump and placed second in both the 400m and the triple jump. He also plays basketball at Mt. Spokane.

"We are excited to have Spencer as part of the Vandal family. He has a young training age, especially in the 400m since this was his first year running it and has a good deal of room for improvement. Not only does he get it done on the track, he also excels in the classroom as well." -Tim Cawley, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country.
