SPOKANE, Wash.— A hot start and balanced play helped the Bulldogs to an 88-51 victory as the Vandals fell to the No. 21 Gonzaga Thursday evening at McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Washington. The Zags improve to 11-1 on the season as Idaho drops to 3-6 before heading into conference play.

The Vandals were led by senior
Mikayla Ferenz who scored 14 points and freshman
Gina Marxen who tallied 10 points.
Lizzy Klinker made her debut Thursday against the Zags, collecting a team-high in rebounds with eight boards as well as eight points in 16 minutes.

The Vandals shot below its season field goal and three-point shooting average. Idaho shot 29 percent from the field and 21 percent from behind the arc.

THE GAME
In the first quarter, the Zags started things off on an 8-0 run leaving the Vandals scoreless until Ferenz found the hoop for a layup at the 4:17 mark.
Lizzy Klinker would score the second and last bucket of the quarter as her first points in a Vandals jersey.

The second quarter saw more offensive success from the Vandals, but the Bulldogs maintained its lead ending the half, 44-19.

In the second half, Idaho continued to battle, but the Zags overbearing defense and consistent offensive kept them comfortably ahead of the Vandals. Nationally ranked, Gonzaga, finished the game 88-51 over the Vandals.
