RESULTS
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Individual competition at the 2018 Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships got underway on Friday, with several Vandals stepping up to score or advance to Saturday's finals.
SCORERS
Kasin Pendergrass-Anderson picked up second-team All-Big Sky recognition in the long jump, finishing second overall with a leap of 7.37 meters (24-2.25).
Rechelle Meade took third in the long jump for the second consecutive season, leaping 5.94 meters (19-6.00), to earn honorable mention All-Big Sky.
Andrea Condie took fifth in the 5000 meters, finishing in 17:49.42. Condie entered the race ranked 14
th in the Big Sky in the event.
Quinn Mitchell picked up a point for Idaho with an eight-place finish in the weight throw. Mitchell threw 17.74 meters (58-2.50).
Both distance medley squads scored for Idaho as well. The women, comprised of
Erin Hagen,
Kaylee Hove,
Faith Dilmore and
Kara Story, placed fifth, while the men's team of
Fabian Cardenas,
Rikki McCaw,
Levi Wintz and
Austin Fred finished sixth.
MOVING ON
Ben Doucette advanced to the final in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.15 seconds. Both
Nik Chappee and
Kaizer Gillispie advanced to the finals in the 400-meters. Chappee posted a season-best time of 48.21 seconds, while Gillispie was close behind at 48.29 seconds.
Kaleala Bass is moving on in the 800-meters. Bass took seventh in the qualifying round with a time of 2:12.09.
YESTERDAY
Maya McFadden competed in her first collegiate pentathlon on Thursday. Her top finish came in the shot put, where she took 10
th with a throw of 9.92 meters (32-6.5).
