Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho—Idaho women's tennis lost its first Big Sky match of the season on Sunday. The Vandals narrowly fell to Northern Arizona, 4-3, on Sunday dropping to 3-1 in the conference. 

The Vandals got out to a positive start, opening the match winning all three doubles matches. Marianna Petrei and Maria Tavares got things going with a 6-0 win at No. 1. Laura Spataro and Lucia Badillos followed up with a 6-2 win at No. 2 and Marta Magalhães and Maggie Chen wrapped up the point with a 7-5 win at No. 3. 

The Vandals got two more wins in singles play but were unable to finish things off against the Lumberjacks.

Petrei, ranked No. 39 in the country, won with ease at No. 1. She went 6-3, 6-0 over Chiara Tomasetti. The back-to-back Big Sky Player of the Year moved to 25-0 all-time against Big Sky opponents. 

Tavares picked up Idaho's final point of the match. The Idaho junior won a three-set battle at No. 2. She fought from behind after dropping the first set 6-4. Tavares won the seconds set in extended fashion 7-6(6) and carried that momentum into the third finishing with a 7-5 decision.
