RESULTS
SPOKANE, Wash. – Six Vandals took individual wins on Saturday at the Spokane Memorial Series, as Idaho continues to progress ahead of the 2018 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at home in just over two weeks.
Hannah Ringel had a great day all around. She won the shot put at 13.91 meters (45-7.75), moving into sixth in the Big Sky rankings. She also placed fourth in two other events, the discus (34.84 meters/114-4) and the hammer throw (39.70 meters/130-3).
Rechelle Meade returned to action over the weekend, winning the long jump with a leap of 5.71 meters (18-9.00). Meade, the current Idaho record holder in the event, moved up to eighth in the Big Sky standings with just her first competition of the year.
Matthew Bauman won the discus with a season-best throw of 43.19 meters (141-8).
Jenner Higgins won the 1500-meters (4:04.82),
Chloe Woest tied for first in the pole vault (3.42 meters/11-2.50) and
Jonny Magee came out on top in the long jump (6.57 meters (21-6.75).
Quinn Mitchell also had a balanced weekend, finishing in the top-three in three events. He took second in the shot put with a toss of 14.07 meters (46-2.00) and second in the discus at 42.85 meters (140-7). He also placed third in the hammer throw at 47.72 meters (156-7).
Makenna Behrens threw a personal best in the javelin at 41.22 meters (135-3) to finish second.
Kara Story took second in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:45.54.
Three Vandals finished in the top-five in the 200, led by
Kaylee Hove. Hove took second at 25.93 seconds, while teammates
Maddy Dustin and
Hana Tyndall finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Christopher Black also had a second place finish, in the 800 meters, finishing the race in 1:54.48.
Josiah Anderson was fifth in the event at 1:58.13.
