Big Sky Championships two weeks away

RESULTS

CORVALLIS, Ore.
– It was another solid weekend for Idaho track and field, competing at the OSU High Performance meet.  Andrea Condie was the star of the meet for Idaho, jumping up the all-time record book in the 5k.

"The team looked great out there this weekend and they really supported each other too," said director of track and field/cross country Tim Cawley.  "It is fun to watch the team come together.  Everyone's been working hard, including the staff, and we are getting excited for conference coming up, especially being at home this year."

Condie smashed her personal best in the 5000-meters to take second.  Her time of 16:22.44 is second best in the Big Sky this season and moves Condie into fourth in Idaho history.  Kara Story also moved up the all-time rankings in the event, moving into 10th in program history with a time of 16:55.88.

Zachary Short picked up a second place finish in the shot put with a throw of 17.28 meters (56-8.50).  Short is currently ranked second in the event in the Big Sky Conference, after winning the shot put during the indoor championships.  Short also placed sixth in the discus at 48.74 meters (159-11).

Rechelle Meade continues to improve her standing in the long jump after a late start to the outdoor season.  She finished second in the competition, leaping 5.80 meters (19-0.50), to move into fifth in the Big Sky.  Jonny Magee's leap of 14.51 meters (47-7.25) in the triple jump gave him second.  Jordyn Rauer took third on the women's side at 11.45 meters (37-6.75).

Krista Story improved on her career-best time in the 1500-meters, finishing in 4:30.42.  Story is already ranked 10th in program history in the event.  Erin Hagen was close behind, finishing in 4:31.02, to move into ninth in the Big Sky this season and 11th in program history.

Jenner Higgins ran a season-best in the 800, finishing third in his section.  His time of 1:52.86 moves him into 11th in the Big Sky this season.

The Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships are just two weeks away, taking place at the Dan O'Brien Track and Field Complex May 8-11.
