MALIBU, Calif. – It's to the road for the first time in 2018 for Idaho volleyball (2-1), with the Pepperdine/CSUN Challenge this weekend. Idaho opens at Pepperdine at 6 p.m. on Friday, before taking on CSUN in Northridge at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Competition concludes on Sunday morning in Malibu against North Texas.

LAST WEEKEND: The Vandals opened up the 2018 season by going 2-1 at the Idaho Volleyball Classic. The squad opened with a three-set win over Santa Clara on Friday night, then defeated Grand Canyon before falling to New Mexico, both in five sets.
STRAW THE MVP:
Kaela Straw had an outstanding opening weekend, earning Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honors. She hit .420 on the weekend, finishing with 58 kills in 13 sets. Straw recorded a career-best 27 kills against New Mexico, the most by a Vandal since 2012.
ABOUT PEPPERDINE: Pepperdine enters the weekend 1-2 on the season. The Vandals have had success against the Waves, going 2-0 all-time.
ABOUT CSUN: CSUN is also 1-2 on the year. Idaho and CSUN have a long history, with CSUN holding a slight 8-7 advantage all-time. These two teams have not met since the 2013 season.
ABOUT NORTH TEXAS: The Mean Green is out to a perfect 3-0 start, after finishing last season with a remarkable 29-4 record. Idaho, however, has been incredibly successful against North Texas, going 10-0 all-time.
