Idaho football held its first practice in full pads Wednesday, its fifth practice of fall camp. Head coach
Paul Petrino met with the media after practice to discuss what he has seen through the first week of camp. The Vandals took their first day off Thursday, and will resume practice Friday, at 9:30 a.m. The team's first scrimmage will be held Saturday, at 10 a.m.
The Vandals also welcomed Carter Nelson to practice Wednesday. Carter, a Special Olympics champion from nearby Troy, Idaho, won a Vandal football jersey earlier this summer after earning the Spirit Award at a local golf tournament. When a tournament organizer approached Idaho about signing the jersey for Carter, Petrino instead offered to have him join the team for a practice and sign it for him afterwards. Practice wrapped up Wednesday, with Carter breaking the team huddle, taking home some new Vandal gear and posing for pictures.
