OGDEN, Utah – After starting the Big Sky portion of the season with two decisive shutout wins, a pair of Vandal soccer players have been recognized by the conference as Players of the Week.
Bridget Daley takes home Offensive Player of the Week honors, while
Makayla Presgrave earns Defensive Player of the Week for the first time.
Daley netted the second hat trick of her career on Friday night, scoring Idaho's first three goals in a 4-0 drubbing of Sacramento State. She also had one hat trick last season, in Idaho's 3-2 come-from-behind win at Weber State.
Presgrave picked up two wins over the weekend, earning the shutout in both. She wasn't called on often, but when she was she made the most of it, making five total saves to double her season shutout total.
Daley has won this award once before. She took home the offensive award after scoring three goals in a weekend last season, with two coming in Idaho's thrilling 5-4 comeback win over Memphis. The other, also a game-winner, came against Nevada.
The Vandals jumped out to a hot start in Big Sky play, and sit atop the conference standings after being the only squad to win both opening weekend contests. Idaho hits the road this weekend for the challenging Northern Colorado-Montana split, before returning home to take on Eastern Washington on October 7.
