BOZEMAN, Mont.—Seniors
Mikayla Ferenz and
Taylor Pierce combined for 14 three-pointers and 52 points in 82-66 win at Montana State Thursday night at Worthington Arena.
THE GAME
Things got out to a slow start for both teams as the Bobcats got on boards quickly with a 7-6 lead. Late in the first quarter, Idaho erased MSU's lead by going on a 15-0 run between the end of the first frame and the beginning of the second.
The second quarter turned in to an old-fashion shootout led by the Splash Sisters, Ferenz and Pierce. The two guards paced the Vandals with 31 of Idaho's 43 first-half points. Idaho left the half ahead, 43-36.
Following the trend, Idaho jumped to 9-0 run to push the lead to 16 points. Late in the third, the Bobcats chipped at the Vandals lead, coming within seven but a poised Idaho team maintained control, taking a 61-49 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Idaho outscored Montana State in the first three quarters, and the fourth was no different. Idaho controlled the majority of the final ten minutes of play. In the end, the Bobcats were unable to overcome Idaho's lights-out shooting in the 82-66 rout.
