OGDEN, Utah – The duo of Ben Doucette and Zachary Short have repeated as Big Sky Male Athletes of the Week, as announced by the conference office.  Both were also recognized last Tuesday following the opening weekend of competition for the Vandals.
 
Doucette re-set his personal-best in the 60-meter hurdles, edging Washington State's Sam Brixey by one one-hundredth of a second in the final.  Doucette ran 8.00 seconds in the prelims, then 7.87 seconds in the final to earn the win.  Check back with GoVandals.com later this week for an in depth look at Doucette's growth this season.
 
Short had a strong meet at the WSU Indoor as well, dominating the shot put competition at 18.02 meters (59-1.50).  He also placed fourth in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 16.83 meters (55-2.75).
 
Doucette currently ranks atop the Big Sky as the only student-athlete to break eight seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.  His season-best time of 7.87 seconds is the 24^th best time in the nation this year.
 
Short, the conference record holder in the shot put, also has a commanding lead over the rest of the Big Sky in his primary event.  He is the only Big Sky student-athlete to throw over 18 meters in the shot put (18.97 meters/62-3.00) this season.  Short also ranks 10^th in the weight throw.  Nationally, Short is 12^th in the shot put.
 
The squad is back in action at the UW Invitational this weekend.
