Bears Come to Town

MOSCOW, Idaho—
Women's hoops continue at home on Saturday night, with North Colorado coming to Cowan Spectrum for a rematch of last year's league title game. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. PDT. FASTBREAK
  • Idaho topped the Eagles in doubleheader sweep Thursday, 84-68.
  • It's been six years since the Vandals have gone 3-0 to start the conference season. The last time Idaho has seen such a hot start was in the 2013-14 season. The Vandal were then apart of the WAC.
  • Taylor Pierce led the Vandals against the Eagles in Thursday's matchup, collecting a game and season-high 30 points.
  • Mikayla Ferenz was named this week's Big Sky Player of the week as well as College Sports Madness Conference Player of the Week
  • Splash Sisters on the brink of reaching career point milestones. Ferenz only 20 points from 2,000 and Peirce 16 points from 1,500.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARS
  • Saturday's meeting will be the eight time the Vandals will have met the Bears. UNC leads the all-time series 5-2 going 2-1 in Moscow and in Greeley, Colorado.
  • The last time the teams met was in the Big Sky Conference title game in Reno, Nevada last season. The Bears bested the Vandals 91-69.
  • Northern Colorado return last year's Big Sky MVP, Savannah Smith, who is leading the Bears with 16.8 points-per game. Alexis Chapman averages 13 points per-game.
  •  In the paint, Ali Meyer leads the team in rebounding with 11.82 boards per game.
  • UNC is led by Jenny Huth who is in her first year at the helm of the Bears program.
