MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho football hosts Cal Poly on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on PlutoTV. Idaho is 2-0-0 all-time against Cal Poly, with the most recent meeting coming during the 2007 season.
ABOUT IDAHO: The Vandals (3-5, 1-3 BSC) dominated Idaho State in the ICCU Battle of the Domes two weeks ago, winning 45-21. The Idaho defense was incredible, forcing four turnovers and returning three for touchdowns.
ABOUT CAL POLY: The Mustangs (2-6, 1-4 BSC) fell to Sacramento State, 38-14, on Saturday. Duy Tran-Sampson led the Mustangs with 70 yards on the ground. Cal Poly attempted just 10 passes in the game. The Mustangs were out-gained on the ground, 348-116.
IT STARTS WITH DEFENSE: The Idaho defense was incredible two weeks ago against Idaho State. The Vandals forced four turnovers on a pair of picks and two fumbles. The first fumble led to a short drive and a
Colton Richardson touchdown. The next three turnovers were all returned for scores. 112 of the 124 FCS programs have fewer than three defensive touchdowns for the year.
HIGHTOWER HAS A DAY: Lloyd Hightower was a major part of the defensive efforts against Idaho State and earned ROOT SPORTS Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week. Hightower had a pick-6 in the first quarter, giving Idaho the 14-0 advantage, and followed that up with a fumble recovery for a touchdown late in the third to seal the game for the Vandals. He also recorded two tackles.
COTTON GOES OFF: Senior receiver
Jeff Cotton had one of the best performances of his career against Idaho State. He caught 10 passes, breaking double digits for the fourth time in his two-year career, and the third time in seven games this season. Cotton finished the day with 192 yards, a new career-high and the 12th most in a game in program history.
