MOSCOW, Idaho –
The University of Idaho Track & Field program is excited to announce the addition of Alex Ayers. Ayers is a transfer from the University of Northern Colorado and is a native of the state of Idaho, having grad­uated from Lake City High School in Coeur d'Alene.
 
Ayers was a consistent conference scorer in the Big Sky Conference during his time at Northern Colorado. This last year as a sophomore, he scored at the indoor conference championship meet in the 400m placing seventh and ran a leg on the 4x400-meter team that placed second. During the outdoor season Ayers placed eighth in the 400m hurdles at the conference championship meet and again ran a leg of an all-conference 4x400m team that placed third. Ayers has personal bests of 52.70 in the 400m hurdles and 48.08 in the 400m.
 
During his time at Lake City High School, Ayers was a highly successful athlete as part of the 2017 graduating class. He was an Idaho State Champion in the 300m hurdles as a senior and placed second at the state championship meet in the 400m. He also placed second at the state meet as junior in the 400m and sixth as a sophomore. He had high school bests of 38.27 in the 300m hurdles and 48.40 in the 400m.
