SEATTLE, Wash. – The Idaho men's basketball team got cold late, falling to Seattle University, 74-55, on Saturday evening. The Vandals (3-5) and Redhawks (4-5) were tied at halftime, but the home team pulled out the victory.
THE GAME
With the Vandals leading 13-11 early on, a 10-0 run by Redhawks put the home team up eight points. However, the Vandals fought back and found themselves up by three after a jumper by
Keyshaad Dixon, followed by a fast break layup by
Gabe Quinnett. A three-pointer by Terrell Brown in the final seconds sent the two teams into the break all knotted up, 32-32.
Â
The beginning of the second half was back-and-forth. The Vandals led by four points, 38-34, with just under 17 minutes to play. However, the Redhawks fought back and took over the lead, eventually pushing out to a 12-point lead at the under-12 media timeout. A short-handed Idaho squad had trouble scoring from the floor down the stretch, but with just over four minutes to play, back-to-back baskets by
Quinton Forrest and Dixon brought the Vandals within seven, 59-52. However, Seattle responded with a three-pointer by Mattia Da Campo to put the home side back up double digits. The Redhawks eventually pushed their cushion out and took the game.
Â
Forrest led the Vandals with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Dixon chipped in 13 points and four assists.

"The team competed and worked together. We need to be better at coming up with timely rebounding and eliminating second chance points. It's going to continue improving."
