Idaho returns home to host Hawai'i in final non-conference game of the season

MOSCOW, Idaho—
The Idaho Women's Basketball team returns homes after six consecutive road games to face the Hawai'i Rainbow Wahinee Saturday Dec. 21st, at 2 p.m. The Vandals game against Hawai'i is only the second home game of the season and will be the first game in Cowan-Spectrum since last season.
Idaho returns to Moscow after traveling over 2,000 miles to Tampa, Florida to face the University of South Florida.

SCOUTING IDAHO

Idaho is led by Gina Marxen who was named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week by the conference office and College Sports Madness following her career-high 30-point performance at Seattle U earlier this season.
 
Marxen leads the Vandals with 12.9 points per game and is also averaging a team-high 4.3 assists per game. The sophomore point guard is second in the Big Sky in three-pointers made (22), and three-pointers made per game (2.8) while leading in minutes (37.3)

Along with Marxen, freshman Beyonce Bea put on a career performance at Seattle with 27 points, 12 rebounds and four assists a few games ago. Bea leads the Vandals on the boards this season with 6.8 per game and is averaging in double-figures offensively with 12.1 points per game.

Lizzy Klinker led the Vandals in scoring for the fourth time this season with 15 points at South Florida. Klinker is part of three Vandals averaging double-digit points, with 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Caitlyn Jones chipped in 11 points off the bench last time out and is averaging 7.4 points per game this season behind Marxen, Bea and Klinker.
 
As a team this season the Vandals have been most successful against its opponents on the perimeter. Idaho is holding opponents to just 20.2 percent shooting from-beyond-the-arc which leads the Big Sky and ranks fifth nationally.

The Vandals are also holding opponents to a Big Sky second-best 59.6 points per game.
Idaho enters this matchup coming off their best three-point performance of the season. The Vandals knocked down a season-high 11 three-pointers against South Florida.

SCOUTING HAWAI'I

Hawai'i enters the road contest 6-5 on the season following back-to-back wins. The Rainbow Wahinee knocked off the Univeristy of Washington 62-50 in Seattle before returning home to defeat Hope International 86-49. Hawai'i has played four Power-5 opponents this season and is 2-2 in those games with wins over Texas and Washington. 
 
For Hawai'I, two players lead the wat offensively. Julissa Tago is averaging 11.8 points per game while Amy Atwell is scoring 11.4 points per game. Myrrah Joseph leads the 'Bows on the boards with 5.2 per game.
 
Much like Idaho, the Rainbow Wahinee are a solid team defensively and lead the Big West Conference in defensive three-point percentage (25.7) and defensive field-goal percentage (36.2)

LAST TIME OUT VS HAWAI'I

The Rainbow Wahinee and Vandals last met on Dec. 5th, 2018 in Honolulu. Idaho fell to Hawai'i 69-61.
Hawai'i leads the series all-time 11-6, however the Vandals have a 7-2 advantage over the 'Bows in Moscow.
