SCOUTING IDAHO
Senior
Lizzy Klinker, who has led Idaho in scoring in the previous four games, is averaging 11.9 points on the season and was named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the Big Sky Conference following her 15 point and nine rebound performance against Hawai'i last week.
Klinker has led Idaho in scoring in scoring five times this season and has recorded six double-digit scoring outings.
Beyonce Bea leads the Vandals in scoring, averaging 12.4 points this season and in rebounds 6.2 per game. Bea also totaled 15 points against Hawai'i last week.
Gina Marxen is averaging 12.3 points per game this season for the Vandals and leads the team in assists with 4.0 per game. Earlier this season Marxen was named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week and the College Sport Madness Player of the Week for the BSC after her 30-point performance at Seattle earlier this season. Marxen leads the Big Sky in minutes with 36.9 per game.
Caitlyn Jones,
Isabelle Hadden,
Hailey Christopher, and
Allison Kirby are leading the Vandals from the bench. Jones is averaging 7.3 points per game off the bench with 1.9 three-pointers made per game while Hadden is averaging 5.9 points per game including tow double-figure games this season from the bench. Christopher leads the Vandals' strong defensive effort, averaging one steal and one block per game to go along with 4.3 points and 3.9 rebounds.
Allison Kirby has been impactful on the glass this season, averaging 4.0 boards off the bench. Kirby was heavily involved in the offense against Hawai'i, totaling seven assists.
Idaho leads the Big Sky Conference defensively, holding its opponents to 58.3 points per game. The Vandals are holding opposing team to a conference-best 34.2 percent field-goal percentage as well as a conference-best 20.9 percent three-point percentage.
SCOUTING IDAHO STATE
Idaho State enters the conference opener with a 4-5 mark on the season following a grueling non-conference schedule. The Bengals have faced three Power-5 opponents this season which includes Duke, Oklahoma State, and Arizona State. Idaho State enters the matchup against Idaho following three straight losses to Utah State, California Baptist and Arizona State.
For Idaho State three players lead the offensive effort scoring in double-figures per game this season. Callie Bourne leads the way with 12.7 points per game followed by Estefania Ors with 11.3 and Dora Goles with 11.0.
Bourne also leads the Bengals on the boards with 7.2 per game and is shooting a conference-best 48.9 percent from the floor.
Despite the tough schedule this season, Idaho State leads the Big Sky in scoring margin, outscoring opponents by an average of 8.8 points per game this season.
LAST TIME OUT VS IDAHO STATE
The Bengals and Vandals last met on March 9
th, 2019 in Cowan-Spectrum Arena. Idaho was named the Big Sky Regular Season Champions following the game but fell to Idaho State 73-67.
Idaho leads the series all-time 31-13 and is 18-3 in Moscow. However, Idaho State has won four of the previous five meetings and six of nine since Newlee left for Idaho in 2008.
