Vandals take on San Diego Wednesday

MOSCOW, Idaho—
The Idaho Women's Basketball team will travel to San Diego, California this weekend to take on the San Diego University Toreros Wednesday, December 4th, at 6 p.m. in the fifth consecutive game away from home.

SCOUTING IDAHO

Idaho hits the road again for the sixth time this season and the fifth consecutive game away from Moscow, to face the San Diego Toreros of the West Coast Conference.

The Vandals traveled to San Luis Obispo, California over the weekend for a pair of neutral site games against Lamar and Old Dominion. Idaho fell to 3-3 overall after dropping two in a row; 47-44 to Lamar on Friday and 67-55 to Old Dominion on Saturday.
 
Idaho is led by Gina Marxen who was named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week by the conference office and College Sports Madness following her career-high 30-point performance at Seattle U two weeks ago.
 
Marxen leads the Vandals with 13.3 points per game and is also averaging a team-high 3.8 assists per game. The sophomore point guard also leads the Big Sky Conference in minutes per game (38.5) and three-pointers made per game (3.0).

Along with Marxen, freshman Beyonce Bea put on a career performance at Seattle with 27 points, 12 rebounds and four assists a few games ago. Bea leads the Vandals on the boards this season with 7.5 per game and is averaging in double-figures offensively with 12.3 points per game. Bea also leads the Big Sky in field goal percentage, shooting 50 percent from the floor this season.
Lizzy Klinker led the Vandals with a season-high 15 points and nine rebounds last time out against Old Dominion. Caitlyn Jones chipped in 11 points off the bench. Klinker and Jones are the Vandals third and fourth best scorers this season, averaging 9.5 and 6.4 points per game, respectively.
 
As a team this season the Vandals have been most successful against its opponents on the perimeter. Idaho is holding its opposing team to an average shooting percentage of 20.8 percent from beyond-the-arc, ranking first in the Big Sky and sixth in the NCAA.

SCOUTING SAN DIEGO


San Diego enters the matchup 4-2 on the season and 3-1 at home following a 64-60 loss to Texas Tech on Saturday. The Toreros began the season on a three-game win streak with wins over Towson (81-67), Air Force (70-59), and Biola (81-28). San Diego's only two losses came against San Jose State 88-82 on the road and Texas Tech.
 
For the Toreros three-players are averaging double-digit points this season. Madison Pollock leads the way with 12.3 points per game while Myah Pace and Leticia Soares are averaging 10.7 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.
 
On average, San Diego is outscoring its opponents by 12.6 points per game. The largest margin of victory for the Toreros was a 53-point advantage over Biola. Both of San Diego's losses were by single digits.
 
San Diego leads the West Coast Conference in steals per game with 11.2 per game, led by Myah Pace with 3.8.


LAST TIME OUT VS SAN DIEGO

Idaho last faced San Diego on November 22nd, 2014 at home, falling to the Toreros 58-52. San Diego leads the series all-time 2-1.
