MOSCOW, Idaho— University of Idaho Volleyball Head Coach
Debbie Buchanan announced Wednesday the signing of Delaney Nicoll to a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period. Delaney will join Idaho from Ridgefield, Washington starting in the fall of 2020.
"Delaney has played multiple positions and has excelled in everything that she has done," said Buchanan. "She has led her team to back to back state championships while also earning the MVP of her league."
Delaney Nicoll, 6-1, OH, Ridgefield, Washington
Nicoll, a native of Ridgefield, Washington is a senior at Ridgefield High School. She helped lead Ridgefield to back-to-back 2A Washington State Championships in 2018 and 2019. Nicoll was named the All-State Player of the year in 2018.
In addition to winning the state championship in 2018 and 2019, Nicoll was also twice named the All-Region Player of the Year, and All-League Player of the Year by the 2A league coaches.
In 2019 Nicoll led Ridgefield to a perfect 14-0 season in league play and a 30-0-1 record overall. Ridgefield, led by Nicoll, only dropped eight sets all season long and put together a win streak of 23 consecutive games to close out the season. The only non-win on the schedule was a tie to Emerald Ridge.
"Delaney is a physical outside hitter who plays high above the net but what sets her apart from other recruits is her ability to pass and play defense," added Buchanan. "I look for her to come in and make an impact on our program immediately."
