FASTBREAK
- The Vandals along with Idaho State have already clinched first-round byes in the Big Sky Conference Championship Tournament, which is set to begin March 11 at the CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho.
- Idaho claims the top spot in the league standings with a 13-3 conference record.
- On the brink of history, senior Mikayla Ferenz is 12 points away from matching the Big Sky's all-time top scorer title that was set by Idaho State's Natalie Doma (2,296 points) in 2008. Thirteen points or more will make Ferenz the all-time scorer in Big Sky history, male or female.
- Ferenz captured her third Google Cloud Academic All-District first-team honors, announced by CoSIDA last week.
- Already Idaho's best three-point shooter, Taylor Pierce leads the country in three-pointers with 114 made this season and 432 career threes that rank third all-time in the NCAA record books.
- Entering into Saturday's big game, the Splash Sisters, Ferenz and Pierce, rank first and fifth in the Big Sky with 22.7 and 18.5 points per game.
- Freshman, Gina Marxen, joins the offensive duo in the top 10 of the conference for threes made per game. Pierce ranks first with 4.6, while Ferenz and Marxen rank third and seventh, respectively, in the league with 3.4 and 2.0 triples per game.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
- The Viking look to avenge it lost to Idaho on Jan. 26 after dropping a close game in Cowan Spectrum, 80-78. The Vandals sank two clutch free throws from Marxen with 2.1 seconds left in regulation after committing an offensive foul moments before.
- Portland State is 5-2 in the month of February and coming off a 1-1 week where they defeated Sacramento State, 75-57, this past Saturday.
- Three Vikings average double-figures with Sidney Rielly leading the pack with 14.8 points per game and Ashely Bolston following with 12.6 points.
