Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Vandals Stumble Late, Fall at Bengals

Big Sky Tournament next

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho's regular season came to a close with a loss on Saturday night, falling at Idaho State 70-68 in the ICCU Battle of the Domes.  Next up for the Vandals is the 2019 Big Sky Championship presented by My Place Hotels in Boise.

THE GAME

The Vandals were tremendous from beyond the arc in the first half.  Both teams made eight 3-pointers, but Idaho needed just 12 attempts to 23 by ISU.  The Vandals were efficient offensively, using Jared Rodriguez and Trevon Allen down the stretch to secure at 45-34 advantage at the break.

Idaho kept things going in the early portion of the second half and eventually got up by as many as 16 points at 51-35.  Idaho State mounted a run from there, chipping away over the remainder of the half and eventually claiming a lead inside the final two minutes.

Idaho had the ball, down two points, with less than 30 seconds to play.  Trevon Allen was fouled on his drive to the basket, but his second free throw came off the iron.  The Vandals got one more chance after the Bengals went 1-of-2 at the line, but Allen's last second shot came up short.  Idaho State took the come-from-behind win, 70-68.
