Hausmann Finishes T-46th in Augusta

Sophie Hausmann will play a practice round Friday at Augusta National

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Idaho women's golf standout Sophie Hausmann finished tied for 46th at the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur. Hausmann's two-round score of 7-over 157 missed the cut by four strokes. The top 30 competitors advance to Saturday's final round at Augusta National. The entire field, including Hausmann, will play an official practice round at the home of The Masters Friday.

Hausmann carded a 6-over 78 in the second round Thursday, at Champions Retreat Golf Course. Going off in the first group of the day, she opened the round with a bogey. Another bogey on four started a string of five straight holes without a par. In that stretch was two birdies, including one on the eighth hole to bring Hausmann to 3-over at the turn.

The Vandal senior carded four bogeys on the back nine, but closed her day with a birdie on the 18th hole.

Hausmann will remain in Augusta through the weekend, including the opportunity to play Augusta National during a Friday practice round.

When she returns to Moscow, Hausmann and her Idaho teammates will finish preparing to defend their Big Sky Conference Championship title. The tournament is set for April 19-21, at Boulder Creek Golf Club near Las Vegas.

The Vandals won the crown last year in record-setting fashion, posting the best total and single-round scores in tournament history. Hausmann will be seeking her third individual Big Sky championship. She won as a freshman in 2016, and again last season.

Hausmann made a big jump in the national rankings this week, checking in at No. 53 in the GolfStat ratings. It is a 20-spot increase over the previous week, thanks to beating nine top-100 opponents at the Bryan National Collegiate Invitational last weekend. She is the only woman from the Big Sky in the top 100.
