SPOKANE, Wash. – Idaho track and field battled the elements on Saturday and put up some solid marks in Spokane at the annual WAR XII, hosted by Spokane Falls Community College.

Zachary Short won his shot put competition with a throw of 18.79 meters (61-7.75). Short adds to his current lead in the event in the conference with his best throw of the season, and is now more than a full meter ahead of the second-ranked shot putter in the Big Sky.

Hannah Ringel won the shot put on the women's side with a throw of 14.19 meters (46-6.75). Ringel is currently ranked second in the Big Sky in the event.

Mack Baxter and
Cole Alteneder took the top-two spots in the 400-meter hurdles. Baxter won the event with a time of 53.96 seconds, while Alteneder was second at 55.20 seconds.

Jonny Magee placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 14.00 meters (45-11.25). Greta Kuhne took third with a leap of 10.99 meters (36-0.75) in the women's triple jump.

Lauren Paven and
Aaryanna Kurucz took second and third in the 200-meters with times of 26.03 seconds and 26.16 seconds, respectively.

Henrike Fiedler won the long jump with a leap of 5.80 meters (19-0.50).Â
Jordyn Rauer placed third at 5.32 meters (17-5.50). Fiedler also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.18 seconds, running for the first time collegiately.
