MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho Track & Field program is excited to announce the commitment of Gabriel Dinnel of Washougal High School.
Dinnel has had an outstanding career for the Panthers. He has excelled both on the cross country course and the track. His senior season of cross country featured a third place performance at the 2A Washington State Cross Country meet. Dinnel went on to place 20th at the prestigious Nike BorderClash meet after the season, a collection of the 40 very best runners from the states of Washington and Oregon. He broke five course records on cross country courses his senior season as well. Dinnel also ran a school record time of 15:24 for 5000m in cross country during his senior season. Dinnel also placed 14th at the state cross country meet as a junior and 19th as a sophomore.
Dinnel has also had success on the track. He placed 12th at the Washington State Track & Field meet in the 3200m as a junior. He has personal bests of 8:59 in the 3000m and 4:29 in the 1600m. Beyond both the track and the cross country course, Dinnel made a USATF team for the World Mountain Running International Youth Cup event in 2017 held in Italy.
Dinnel is an outstanding student and Eagle Scout, who has contributed to his community in numerous ways.
