MOSCOW, Idaho – A pair of former men's basketball standouts are representing the Vandals at the next level this summer, competing in the NBA Summer League. Jeff Ledbetter ('11) returns for the San Antonio Spurs, while
Perrion Callandret ('18) made his Summer League debut with the Chicago Bulls.
Ledbetter got the summer started in Salt Lake City, helping the Spurs to a 2-1 record during the opening week. He averaged 8.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals per contest over the three-game stretch, while shooting 44.4 percent from beyond the arc. His best performance came in game two against the Memphis Grizzlies, when he connected on 5-of-10 from beyond the arc, including four straight in the first quarter. Ledbetter also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out two assists in the 99-84 win.
In four games in Las Vegas, Ledbetter has played 15.5 minutes per game off the bench. His assist and steal averages both increased, compared to Salt Lake City. The Spurs finished the opening round in Las Vegas at 2-2.
Callandret appeared in three-of-four opening round games for the Bulls. He made his debut against the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring four points in 11 minutes of action. Callandret also saw time against the New Orleans Pelicans and the Charlotte Hornets. He had his best overall outing against the Hornets, scoring two points, grabbing five rebounds and picking up one assist in the win. The Bulls also finished the opening round at 2-2.
Seeding for the tournament portion of the Las Vegas Summer League will be announced following the final opening round games, taking place tonight.
