MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho men's golf will compete in nine regular-season events across the fall and spring during the 2019-20 season, head coach David Nuhn announced Thursday. The Vandals will play in Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado and Hawaii before finishing the regular season in Arizona, where they will also compete in the Big Sky Championships at the end of April.
 
"We have an extremely competitive schedule," Nuhn said. "We're not going to shy away from going out and taking on some of the best teams in the country at some fantastic venues."
 
Idaho will begin its fall season Sept. 16-17, with the Husky Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton, Wash. It is the first of four fall tournaments, including three in October. The fall segment will wrap up Oct. 28-30, at Hoakalei Country Club in Oahu, Hawaii.
 
The Vandals will resume their season Feb. 24-25, at the Joust at Goose Creek in Mira Loma, Calif. Trips to Bandon, Ore., and Eugene, Ore., will be followed by a return to the Seattle area for the Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay. This will mark the third straight year Idaho takes on Chambers Bay.
 
"You want to return to as many quality events year after year as you can," Nuhn said. "That makes our guys comfortable from the moment you get on the course. When you're a freshman, there is so much more to learn every place you go. The more you can limit that later in a student-athlete's career, the better. You can go out with a game plan and play at a higher, more confident level."
 
The Wyoming Cowboy Classic (April 6-7) in Chandler, Ariz., is Idaho's final tune up for the Big Sky Championships April 27-29, at Talking Stick Resort in Phoenix.
 
"Overall, this schedule is designed to prepare us for the Big Sky Championships," Nuhn said. "We're going to experience varying weather conditions and different course styles to get us ready to be at our best when it matters most."
 
Idaho returns six student-athletes from last season, including Big Sky Freshman of the Year Colt Sherrell.
