ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Valeria Patino kicked off her junior campaign with a 2-under 70 Monday, in the opening round of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at the UNM Championship Golf Course. Patino followed that with a 74 in the second round, putting her in a tie for 14th at even par through two rounds of the tournament. Idaho women's golf is 13th in the team standings.
Patino carded five birdies in her first round of the season. She had six on the day to lead the team.Â
Sophomore
Vicky Tsai led a pack of Vandals behind Patino. Tsai was 7-over through two rounds, tied for 56th. Classmate
Eddie Hsu was one stroke behind Tsai at 8-over, and junior
Laura Gerner finished the day at 9-over.
Danika Palm rounded out Idaho's lineup at 12-over.
The Vandals shot 24-over through two rounds. The final round tees off Tuesday, with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. MT.Â
