PULLMAN, Wash. - Sophomore
Vicky Tsai took advantage of a familiar course to post the best tournament score of her career and finish 12th at the WSU Cougar Cup Tuesday, at Palouse Ridge Golf Course on the campus of nearby Washington State. Tsai led Idaho women's golf with a 70 in the final round, dropping her tournament total to 3-under (213). The best 54-hole score of her career helped the Vandals finish 12th as a team at 21-over.
Junior
Valeria Patino continued her steady play with a final-round 73. Patino finished the tournament at 1-under, tying for 16th. She shot a 71 in each of the first two rounds Monday.
The Vandals were equally consistent as a team Monday, firing a pair of 6-over 294 scores. That put Idaho in ninth place. It dropped to 12th place after a 9-over 297 in the final round.
Oregon State won the team title and broke the tournament record for 54-hole scoring, previously set by Idaho in 2016.
Idaho will remain close to home next week for the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational, Sept. 23-24, hosted by Gonzaga. The Bulldogs also competed at the WSU Cougar Cup, finishing 13th, nine strokes behind the Vandals.
