MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men's basketball team fell to Southern Utah University, 73-45, on Monday evening. The Thunderbirds (12-7, 5-3 BSC) jumped out to a 13-2 lead and never looked back as they took down the Vandals (5-14, 1-7 BSC).
THE GAME
Scott Blakney hit a shot from just outside the paint on the first Vandal possession, but SUU would score the next 13 points. Idaho would cut the lead to seven, 16-9, with 11:33 to play in the first, but the Thunderbirds led 43-24, at halftime.
Trevon Allen would hit two free throws to start the scoring in the second half, but Southern Utah would score the next 10 points. The Vandals trailed by as many as 38 points, and ultimately fell, 73-45.
Allen led Idaho with 12 points, while
Jack Wilson had 10 points and eight boards.
THE NOTES
Idaho was outrebounded, 41-38, but Idaho held a 15-7 edge on the offensive glass.
The Vandals 19-point halftime deficit was the largest of the season.
Idaho won the turnover battle, forcing 16, while committing 14. However, SUU had 15 points off turnovers, while the Vandals had 10.
Jaxon Woodward played his first career minutes for the Vandals, picking up a steal.
THE NAME
Jack Wilson. Wilson finished the game with 10 points and eight rebounds. He also had a block in 30 minutes of play. Wilson led the Vandals in the first half with eight points.
