MOSCOW, Idaho- The University of Idaho women's basketball team will return to Cowan Spectrum Arena in Moscow, Idaho to take on the Portland State Vikings, Monday night at 6 p.m.
The Vandals (14-8, 9-4) are coming off a dominating win over Eastern Washington, 75-46. Portland State (12-12, 6-8) is coming off a loss to Eastern Washington on Saturday 79-75 and has dropped the last four games.
The Vikings enter the matchup in 8
th place overall in the Big Sky Conference standings but have dropped their last three games.
The Vandals sit in second place in the Big Sky standings behind Montana State with a 9-4 conference record. The Vandals finished first round of Big Sky games with an 8-2 record but fell to Montana State and Montana in consecutive games this past week before defeating Eastern Washington.
The Vandals and Portland State last met on Jan. 2
nd, in Portland. Portland State downed the Vandals 74-53.

Idaho enters its 14th conference game of the season Monday at home against the Portland State Vikings in the "Hoops for Hope" pink game.
Gina Marxen leads the Vandals in scoring this season with 14.4 points per game and in assists with 4.5 per game. Marxen dished out a career-high 12 assists against Montana and has had at least five assists in her last seven games. The sophomore from Sammamish, Washington leads the Big Sky in three-pointers made (75) and three-pointers made per game (3.4). In addition, Marxen leads the Big Sky in minutes played per game with 37.1. Marxen totaled a team-high 18 points and 12 assists against EWU last time out. She is also second in the Big Sky with an assist to turnover ratio of 2.5. Marxen has hit 140 career three-pointers as a Vandal which places her in 10
th place all-time. Marxen moved into 10
th place last week against Montana State and sits just two threes' behind ninth place.
Taylor Pierce holds the record for the most all-time with 472 in her career.
Beyonce Bea is right behind Marxen, averaging 12.4 points per game. The freshman from Washougal, Washington is playing an average of 34.1 minutes per game this season, more than any freshman in the conference. Bea scored 14 points against EWU and has scored in double-figures a team-high 16 times this season.
Lizzy Klinker rounds out a group of three players averaging double-figures this season with 11.1 points per game and had 13 against the Eagles to go along with seven rebounds.
Natalie Klinker leads the Vandals on the boards this season with 7.1 per game. Natalie totaled a team-high 10 rebounds last time out along with five points. Natalie did not play against Portland State earlier this season.
Idaho continues to lead the Big Sky defensively in field-goal percentage defense and scoring defense. The Vandals lead the conference in scoring defense allowing just 58.1 points per game. If the tough defense continues Idaho could set an all-time school record surpassing 58.7 points per game from the 1979-1980 season. Portland State totaled 73 points on the Vandals last time out. In their most recent game, Idaho held EWU to just 46 points.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
Portland State (12-12, 6-8) will travel to Moscow Monday night to face the Vandals following a loss to Eastern Washington on Saturday, 79-75.
The Vikings feature four players scoring double-figures per game as the number five offense in the Big Sky with 69.7 points per game. Tatiana Streun leads the vikings offensive effort with 12.8 points per game just ahead of Desirae Hansen wth 12.7 points per game.
Kylie Jimenez and Jordan Stotler round out the top four scorers with 12.3 and 10.5 points per game, respectively.
Stotler alos leads the Vikings on the glass with a team-high 7.7 rebounds per game to go along with 3.4 blocks per game which leads the Big Sky.
Jimenez ranks third in the Bi Sky with 2.4 steals per game.
Portland State has posted a 36.3 three-point shooting percentage this season which ranks second in the conference, while leading the Big Sky from the charity stripe at 77.7 percent on the season.
LAST TIME OUT VS PORTLAND STATE
Idaho and Portland State last met in Portland, Oregon during the first game of 2020 on Jan. 2nd. The Vikings defeated Idaho 74-53.
Gina Marxen totaled 18 points for the Vandals but Desirae Hansen led all scorers with 21 points for Portland State. All five starters scored in double-digits for the Vikings.
SERIES HISTORY
Idaho holds a 25-14 lead all-time over Portland State, including a 13-6 advantage at home. The Vikings have won two consecutive meetings which includes the Big Sky tournament last year and the first meeting of this season. Prior to last year's win in the tournament, Portland State had not beaten the Vandals since 2007. The most recent two losses to the Vikings are the only two losses since Head Coach
Jon Newlee arrived in 2008. Newlee is 10-2 all-time to Portland State. The last time Idaho lost at home to the Vikings was Dec. 8th, 2007, 81-54.

th of his career against Eastern Washington last night in a 69-60 win. Newlee is the all-time winningest head coach in the history of Idaho Women's Basketball.
