MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho track and field team will compete at the 2020 Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships taking place in Pocatello. Multis begin on Thursday, but the Vandals get started in the individual events on Friday.

FOLLOW: The meet will be streamed live on the PlutoTV app and at WatchBigSky.com. Live results will be available through the link on the schedule page and at the top of this article. A full event schedule is also available (times are Mountain).

THE SEASON SO FAR: The indoor season has been a whirlwind for the Vandals. Idaho competed at six different meets including three home events. Results have continued to improve, building a solid foundation just in time for the Championships.

"We're really excited for conference. I think our coaching staff has done an amazing job of getting athletes ready to go," said director of track and field/cross country, Tim Cawley. "All the athletes are eager to compete as well. I feel like we're in a good place. We're ready to go out and try to beat our rank and enjoy the process while we're out there."

Idaho has 22 student-athletes currently ranked in the top-10 in at least one event, with four ranked multiple times. The Vandals also have 16 student-athletes ranked in the top-five.

TOP RANKED: Four Vandals enter the Championships with the best mark in the conference during the season.

Zachary Short, who is the two-time defending champion in the shot put, threw a season's best 19.49m/63'11.5" at the Idaho Team Challenge putting him in a great position to make it a three-peat. That mark is 16th in the nation.

Rechelle Meade won the long jump at the BSC Championships last year. She will enter this year's competition with the best mark of the year – 6.12m/20'1".

Dean Ellenwood has run the fastest 800 meters this year in the Big Sky. He ran the race in 1:51.76 at the Team Challenge.

Ben Doucette ran the 60-meter hurdles in a season's best 7.90 at the Idaho Open. That time stands as the best mark in the conference this season.

@IdahoTrack will take a look at all of Idaho's top-10 ranked student-athletes tomorrow.
