DAY 1 RECAP
POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho Vandals track and field team wrapped up the 2020 Big Sky Indoor Championship with two more first place finishes and
Kelsey Swenson earning Freshman of the Year. The Vandal men finished in fourth place, while the women were fifth.
"I'm proud of the team's showing today. They competed with a lot of grit and they were attacking their performances the whole day long," said director of track and field/cross country
Tim Cawley. "We had the most points that we've scored at an indoor championship since we've been back in the Big Sky on both the men's and women's side by quite a bit. It was also the best finish in terms of places we've had since rejoining the conference. There were some impressive performances with a lot of podium performers for both the men and women, as well as the Freshman of the Year on the women's side. Overall, it was a fun and exciting weekend.
There were a lot of good things that happened and I'm proud of this team."
Kelsey Swenson was fifth in the 3000-meter run (9:52.08). That performance combined with her second-place finish yesterday in the 5k earned Swenson Freshman of the Year accolades.
