Box Score MOSCOW, Idaho- The University of Idaho Women's basketball team (18-9, 13-5) improved to 13-5 in conference play with a 70-57 win over Southern Utah (16-11, 10-8) at home in Memorial gym. The Vandals outscored Southern Utah 21-13 in the fourth period to fight off a Thunderbird comeback. Four Vandals scored in double-figures, led by senior

THE GAME
Lizzy Klinker opened the game with a layup immediately following the jump ball. The Vandals opened the contest on a 10-2 run in the first four minutes, including eight points from Lizzy. Southern Utah began to cut into to Idaho's lead throughout the period, but a
Gina Marxen layup with 39 seconds to go gave the Vandals a 20-15 lead at the end of the period.
Idaho opened the second period on a 12-2 run, capped with a
Natalie Klinker layup at the 4:42 mark, to take a 31-17 lead over the Thunderbirds. Offense was slim on both sides during the final minutes before half, but the Vandals carried a 34-19 lead into the break after holding the Thunderbirds to just four points in the period. Lizzy led the Vandals with 17 total points in the first half.
Beyonce Bea gave the Vandals their largest lead of the game 48-23, following a layup at the 4:48 mark. Southern Utah closed out the third period on a 21-1 run, cutting Idaho's lead to just five, 49-44 entering the fourth.
To open the fourth, Shalyn Fano drained a three-pointer cutting Southern Utah's deficit to just two points, 49-47. The Vandals responded with 7-0 run over the next 45 seconds to extend the lead to 56-47. Bea began the run with a three-pointer followed by a four-point play from
Gina Marxen.
Lizzy Klinker put the Vandals up by 10, 60-50, following a jumper with 6:28 left to play. Idaho would extend their lead at the free-throw line down the stretch and go on to win 70-57.
Lizzy Klinker led the Vandals with 23 points and six rebounds.
