Box Score MOSCOW, Idaho- The University of Idaho Women's basketball team (13-6,8-2) defeated the Sacramento State women's basketball team 70-44 in Cowan-Spectrum Arena on Monday night. The Vandals scored 47 points in the second half to cruise to their eighth conference win of the season.
Gina Marxen led Idaho with 18 points while
Beyonce Bea and
Lizzy Klinker chipped in 14 and 10, respectively.
THE GAME
Idaho found themselves behind to the Hornets after just scoring six points in the first period. The Vandals began to find offensive rhythm in the second period, scoring 17 points. The Vandals fell behind 20-11 in the second period but a 10-2 run, capped with a
Beyonce Bea layup, cut Sacramento States lead to just 22-21 with 2:42 to go in the period. At the half the Hornet held the advantage, 25-23.
Under two minutes into the third period, Bea tied the game at 25 with a layup in the paint before a
Lizzy Klinker jumper gave Idaho the lead 27-26.
After taking the lead, Idaho outscored Sacramento State 21-9 the rest of the way in the third period. The Vandals' run included eight points from
Isabelle Hadden and seven from Lizzy.
Idaho scored a game-high 25 points in the third period.
The Vandals offense continued to flow in the fourth period as the squad went up by 20, 57-37, with 6:57 to go in the game, following an
Allison Kirby three-pointer.
The Vandals outscored the Hornets 13-7 down the stretch and led by as many as 26, 70-44, with just 48 seconds to go following a
Caitlyn Jones layup.

Idaho's defense held the number one scoring offense in the Big Sky to just 44 points, nearly 30 below their average. Idaho held Sacramento State to just 16 made field-goals from the fllor on 27.1 percent shooting. Idaho finished 40.6 percent from the floor while knocking down eight three-pointers.
Idaho controlled the boards throughout, outrebounding the Hornets 50-36.
Natalie Klinker totaled a team-high 13 rebounds.
Three Vandals scored in double-figures led by
Gina Marxen who totaled 18.

THE NAME
Isabelle Hadden was a big part of the Vandals offensive explosion in the second half. Hadden finished 4-4 from the field with eight points. Hadden scored all eight points during Idaho's 21 point run in the third period. Hadden also finished with a block and a rebound.

The Vandals will host Montana State on Thursday night at 6 p.m. in a battle for first place in the Big Sky.
