MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho track and field team is set to host the Idaho Team Challenge on Friday. The meet will be the final home event of the season. Field action will begin at 10 a.m., with running events starting at 11 a.m. The meet will be streamed on WatchBigSky.com.
With three weeks until the Big Sky Championships, multiple Vandals sit in the top-10 in the conference performance lists. Five Idaho performances are the best this season in the conference.
In the 60-meter hurdles,
Ben Doucette leads the BSC with a time of 7.90, which he ran at the Idaho Open. That time is tied for the 40th best in the nation this year.
In the long jump, Rechelle Mead's mark of 6.12m (20'1") leads the Big Sky Conference and is tied for 28th nationally. Meanwhile,
Zachary Nunis is second on the men's performance list (7.42m/24'4.25") and 54th in the country.
The reigning Big Sky Conference champion in the shot put,
Zachary Short currently holds the top place in the event this season (19.15m/62'10"). He also sits 21st in the nation with that toss. Grady Leonard is fourth on the league performance list.
On the women's side in the shot put,
Hannah Ringel has the second-best mark in the BSC (14.79/48'6.25").
Dean Ellenwood has the best time in the league this season for 800 meters. His time of 1:43.12 from the Idaho Open is a second faster than the next best mark. Meanwhile,
Jenner Higgins is fourth in the event performance list (1:54.24).
On the women's side in the 800 meters,
Krista Story is second in the Big Sky (2:13.02), while
Malaina Thacker (2:15.06) and
Anna Pecha (2:15.13) are fourth and fifth, respectively.
Thacker is also among the leaders in the mile. Her time of 4:42.65 from the UW Invitational is tied for fourth in the BSC performance list this year.
In the men's 200-meter dash,
Kaizer Gillispie is tied for the seventh-fastest time in the BSC (22.03). He is also ninth in the 400-meter dash (49.34).
Spencer Barrera also makes an appearance in the top times in the 400, sitting sixth with his mark of 48.64.
In the women's 400-meter dash,
Lauren Paven is eighth in the BSC this season with a time of 57.14.
The Vandal men's 4x400 relay team ran a 3:18.21 at the UW Invitational, which is the best mark in the Big Sky. The women's DMR team is second in the conference.
Britt Ipsen has the fifth best height in the high jump (2.00m/6'6.75"), while
Julia Hayes is tied for the fifth best on the women's side in the event (1.68m/5'6").
Three Vandals make up the top-five marks in the women's triple jump.
Karina Moreland is second in the BSC (12.08m/39'7.75"), while
Tayler LyDay (12.01m/39'5") is third and
Jordyn Rauer (11.75m/38'6.75") is fifth. Â Â
In the weight throw,
Cullen Williams ranks fifth in the BSC with a heave of 18.71m (61'4.75"), while Leonard is sixth in the conference (18.56m/60'10.75").
